I've been on a serious Hip-Hop binge all week. I guess having dinner with a bunch of emcees will do that to you. During my newfound burst of hip-hop appreciation I discovered a mesmerizing love song by emcee, Jean Grae, called "Love Thirst." Produced by the legendary 9th Wonder the track is a mish mash of heavy bass drums, sparkling harp plucks and smooth violin runs. While the beat itself is atypical for such a soft topic, Jean balances its heavy feel with her earnest desire for her lover's embrace, spitting lines like, "My caramel, mahogany fairytale / You gon' do very well / I'm fearing for the farewell / Stay a while." It's like a b-girl's dream...or in my case a b-boy's (A King with a King).
