Beauty (Tips) In Black & White - i-D Magazine

i-D Magazine serves up a dose of raw fashion beauty with a trio of editorials for its October issue. "Stop Being So Insecure," "Stop Smoking" and "I Like Mint Flavor Lip Gloss" brings together a mixture of legendary and upcoming models including, Kristen McMenamy, Liya Kebede, Julia Stegner, Jourdan Dunn, Lara Stone, Carmen Kass and Joan Smalls, and presents them in beautiful black & white format, nearly bare. The editorial also serves up some simple beauty tips from the models themselves. The other striking thing about this ed are, strangely enough, the nipples. They're quite strange and interesting on some of the models. They definitely make you go hmmmmm....but in an interesting way.

Chanel Iman & Jourdan Dunn WERK Vogue's Society Slouch

Who best to wear this latest trend than two of the fashion worlds top models, Jourdan Dunn and Chanel Iman? The girls, alongside Caroline Trentini, stretch, elongate and POSE to show the luxe and length of the clothes. And anytime these two girls get together it's a magical affair.

Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn are reunited once again, along with Caroline Trentini, in the editorial "The Society Slouch" for next month's issue of Vogue.Only two images from the editorial, shot by Patrick Demarchelier, but from the looks of it Chanel and Jourdan are rocking this editorial, embodying all of the aristocracy and style of an elite Vogue woman. As well, it's nice to see these two back together again and it's great to see Chanel Iman growing in her posing versatility.

Vogue - We Are The World

We are the world and apparently the world is fashionably vibrant and wild in Vogue's latest editorial We Are The World shot by Steven Meisel. Showcasing a tribal theme of everything but the kitchen sink, the editorial shines brilliantly especially with the help of models, Jourdan Dunn (her return to Vogue), Liu Wen, Joan Smalls, Karlie Kloss, Lais Ribeiro and others.

Chanel & Jourdan Get Cute and Candid For Teen Vogue

The Teen Vogue cover editorial with Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn has finally surface on the web and it is absolutely lovely. The girls look soft and radiant as they pose and strut on the pier of the Catalina Beach. The dresses are ultra fun and chic and the overall styling is perfection. Check out the editorial below.

Teen Vogue also provides a great article about the girls and their struggles in the industry, both with racism and each other. The girls get candid as they speak of their (forced) rivalry with each other and how it nearly destroyed their friendship.

"I could sit here and tell you, 'I love Jourdan! We've always been the best of friends!'" she says. "But we haven't. Until recently, we barely even spoke. We went from being superclose in the beginning," she says, "to dead silence if we saw each other backstage at a show." Not even a hello? "If we did say hi, it was hi, and that's it."

"It's competition," Jourdan says. "There aren't a lot of us, but instead of sticking together, we're pitted against each other. People will say things in Chanel's ear like, 'Jourdan is taking your spot,' and then they'll say to me, 'Don't trust Chanel.'"

A large part of the problem stems from the ridiculous idea that there's only room for one. Chanel says, "You're being told, 'So and so is only booking one black girl. It's either you or Jourdan,' So we'll be sitting in the lobby looking at each other like, 'Okay, I want this job, and she wants it too. Which one of us is going to get it?'"

...It was, in fact, a Vogue shoot that brought Chanel and Jourdan back together. "We said, 'Why are we fighting? It doesn't make any sense,'" says Jourdan. "The only way to improve the situation is to come together," adds Chanel.

With all the recent rumors flying around about rumblings between some of the industries top black models it's soooo great to hear that some of them are choosing to stand together rather than stand alone or worse, against each other.

Jourdan Dunn Does A Pregnant Strut Down JPG's Runway

Yesterday Jourdan Dunn, who is 7 months pregnant, shocked the fashion world by making a surprise appearance in Jean Paul Gaultier's Spring 2010 runway show. For his show Gaultier transformed the model into a pregger warrior queen with mahogany toned leather arm bands, military boots, a semi-sheer green dress, and spirla quilted baby bump protector. To give her an even edgier look Gaultier marked Jourdan's name down the front of her chest and wrapped a bullet holster around her waist. If there were ever any questions about her future in the industry, post-pregnancy, then Dunn just answered them. This b**** is here to stay. Work, mama!!!

The Beauties of the THRILLER!!!

It has finally arrived. i-D magazine's highly anticipated editorial featuring Sessilee Lopez, Chanel Iman, Arlenis Sosa Peña and Jourdan Dunn has hit the internet and it's every bit of FIERCENESS that I thought it would be. The editorial, "Thriller," takes subtle inspiration in both style and title from the classic Michael Jackson song about zombies, ghouls and goblins and creates a shadowy world of mood and fashion as shot by photographer, Emma Summerton. Set to both black & white and color images "Thriller" casts these four models as dark, brooding creatures on the gritty downtown streets of the U.K.

*Those shoes are sooo impractically SICKENING!!!*

It's gritty. It's edgy. It's AMAZING. By far the best editorial I've seen this month and just like its namesake, it's sure to be a classic.

P.Y.T. for i-D Mag

British fashion magazine, i-D, has chosen the world's top 4 black models (Chanel Iman, Sessilee Lopez, Jourdan Dunn, and Arlenis Sosa Peña) to grace their September "Pretty Young Things" issue. The cover, which was inspired by 80's era of B-Boy Hip-Hop, R&B girl groups and loud make-up, was shot by the amazing Emma Summerton and styled by Edward Enninful.

For anyone with a knowledge of the fashion industry's continuing history of racism this is a landmark cover. Most black models find it EXTREMELY difficult to land magazine covers, especially during September when fashion magazines publish their biggest issues (Editors think black models can't sell to a broad audience...HA!). These girls served it (Work Chanel!) and they're definitely giving me something to look forward to in the coming weeks. Be sure to check your local newstands and pick up a copy of the "Pretty Young Things" issue when it hits a news stand near you. Until then let's jam to some Michael Jackson

Pretty young things, repeat after me

say Na Na Na (Na Na Na)

Na Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na)

Chanel Iman & Jourdan Dunn VOGUE for the Young Gurls

These two look as cute as a fuckin' button together in this preview of their new editorial for next month's issue of Teen Vogue. I know this page of the editorial is dedicated to t-shirts but I love those short shorts and I DEFINITELY need to get my hands on those brazalete's (bracelets) for the new school year.
