Nicki Minaj - Hip-Hop's First V Magazine Cover Girl

Nicki Minaj is once again proving that she can push Hip-Hop into even stranger territory by landing the cover of January's issue of the fashion bible, V Magazine, making her the first woman of hip-hop to do so. Shot by highly coveted photographers Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, Nicki shifts effortlessly between looking like a beautiful, voluptuous voodoo doll and a fierce rap QWEENE. Even the somewhat tame cover beckons it's viewers to lock into her stern gaze and connect with the rumbling strength emanating from this woman. Kudos to the Nicki Minaj, she really is kicking ass and taking names.

Nicki Minaj ft. Eminem - Roman's Revenge

Finally, the song we've all been waiting for. Nicki finally gets vicious, gets CUNT (literally) and gets revenge as she blasts off, lyrical guns blazing, at Lil' Kim on her latest song, "Roman's Revenge." Switching to her Roman Zolanksy persona and enlisting the help of Eminem's alter ego, Slim Shady, and producer, Swizz Beatz, Nicki attacks her nemesis with deliciously caustic emphasis,

"Is this the thanks that I get for putting you bitches on? / Is it my fault that all of you bitches gone? / Shoulda sent a thank you note you little ho / Now I'ma wrap your coffin with a bow / (Nicki, she just mad 'cause you took the spot) / W-w-word? That bitch mad cuz I took the spot? / Well bitch if you ain't shittin' then get off the pot / Got some n*ggas out in Brooklyn that'll off your top"

This is one of the most ferocious battle raps that hip-hop has seen in a long time. If these two emcees play their battle cards right, this could very well be one of the most memorable MC wars in recent rap history. If not, this is at least a satisfying glimpse into the traditional hip-hop oriented side of Nicki's debut album.

I'll Drink To That (Nicki) Haterade.

Upon first listen I thought this song was....basic. A basic Pharrell chorus, a basic Neptunes beat (a throwback to their early days), Gucci as his usual BASIC self, and a basic verse from Nicki Minaj. But after several more spins I find that the song is basic, it's just simplistic and that's not a bad thing. It's simplicity is its addictive attraction. The Neptunes minimalist layers of synth rhythms and drum patterns make for a 90's style, head-nodding soundscape. And while I'd prefer a verse from the inafamous Roman Zolanski persona what we get is a concise and undeniable verse from Nicki herself. She lets go of her alter-egos and let's you see her in a vulnerable state of mind, making her and the song all the more endearing. Simply put, this song is a win in my book and another notch for lyrical domination under Nicki's belt.

Nicki Minaj Fans The Flames Of OUT Magazine

Outrageous MC and Nic E. Rock fave, Nicki Minaj, has scored the cover and feature interview/editorial of OUT Magazines October issue. In the mag, Nicki discusses her troubled past, her love/adoration for women, her disdain for labels and her love for the gays.

"The rhymes brought attention, then rumors, then a denial in the July issue of Black Men magazine that reads remarkably like Bill Clinton’s infamous “I did not have sexual relations with that woman” statement: “I don’t date women and I don’t have sex with women.” Nicki Lewinsky laughs at the resemblance and adds almost tauntingly, “But I don’t date men either.” Her bottom line: No labels. “People who like me -- they’ll listen to my music, and they’ll know who I am. I just don’t like that people want you to say what you are, who you are. I just am. I do what the fuck I want to do.” She likes to beckon ladies to the stage at her shows, brandishing a marker for sweaty boob-signing sessions, but 95% of her racy lyrics are about encounters with men. Adding that she’ll grab her best friend’s breasts for fun far from paparazzi cameras, she says, “The point is, everyone is not black and white. There are so many shades in the middle, and you’ve got to let people feel comfortable with saying what they want to say when they want to say it. I don’t want to feel like I’ve got the gun pointed at my head and you’re about to pull the trigger if I don’t say what you want to hear. I just want to be me and do me.

...She first learned of her gay male following when she spied fans’ spot-on renditions of her verses on the Web. She was blown away by the replications of her voices and mannerisms. “If a gay guy impersonates you, you are a bad bitch. Period,” she says, waving her bright-orange nails in the air. “There are no ifs, ands, or buts, because they only impersonate the best.”

BET Hip-Hop Awards Cyphers

Here are my favorite cyphers from last night's BET Hip-Hop Awards ceremony.

Nicki Minaj - She's SOOOO Bizarre that I can't stop watching her. Even though she had a prop (hmmmm) she still Harley Quinn'd her cypher and commanded your attention. You've gotta love that.

Joe Budden - Hands down, he NAILED it! That was the calmest SLAYING I've ever seen. Best freestyle of the night.

Eminem - He gave the best freestyle of his cypher. Period.

You can check out another cypher with KRS-ONE, Wale, Nipsey Hu$$le and Gsan by clicking the link below
